This is a GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL item from the late 1980s or early 1990s, not a replica or recent reissue!
Extremely well-made piece in brass and multi-colored “hot-baked” enamels of very high quality. Measures approx. 52 mm in height, 28 mm in width. Two-piece construction: the ship is a separate superimposed part. Pin back attachment. Condition is excellent, shows storage age only.
USSR Naval Border Guard Forces were under the command of the KGB rather than the Navy, and that’s why the badge shows Soviet KGB emblem of shield and sword. The flag in the top portion of the badge is Soviet Naval KGB ensign: same as regular Soviet naval flag but with added field of green which is traditional Soviet Border Guard color. The badge was intended as commemorative award to crewmen.
